PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (CCDOTH), in partnership with the Village of Sauk Village, is proposing to install a multi-use path along Cottage Grove Avenue, Sauk Trail, Cornell Avenue and 223rd Street located in the Villages of Sauk Village and Steger.
The project is currently in Phase I, during which preliminary engineering and environmental studies are being performed. During Phase I, the project team will develop several alternatives for review and comment by the community and other stakeholders, and ultimately select a preferred location for the multi-use path along these roadways. Phase I is expected to be completed in spring 2024.
After Phase I is completed, the preferred alternative will proceed to Phase II (detailed design) and Phase III (construction). Construction is currently anticipated to begin in 2026, pending plan readiness, funding availability and the status of land acquisition.
